Bill focuses on working with adults, and extensively with men who are confronting issues of shame and vulnerability and seeking new ways of communicating. At times, adverse childhood experiences impact how we function and connect as adults – the way we show up in the world - in our relationships with others, and ourselves. The degree to which we can attach securely to loved ones, and how safe it feels to be authentic with others about our feelings, stands as a measure of how comfortable we feel in our own skin.

The truth: most of us will experience one or more traumatic events at some point in our lives. Bill embraces a trauma-informed approach to determine whether post-traumatic stress is present and affecting his client’s everyday existence. Bill’s practice is also relational and integrative, goal-oriented, and may combine talk therapy with CBT tools, somatic (body) awareness and meditation to access mindfulness, presence and focus.

Bill is trained in Somatic Experiencing (SE), an intervention that helps organize, reconnect and integrate our thoughts with the felt sense in the body, and re-regulate the nervous system. A common misconception is that our thoughts alone are the gateway to desired change. Yet when we rediscover the emotions and feelings experienced within the body, we can unlock the inner wisdom we possess to experience wholeness, find clarity and heal. Bill’s core strength is his ability to connect with clients in a supportive, nurturing, non-judgmental manner from the outset.

In addition to his private practice, Bill is an adjunct professor at the graduate level teaching a core course in evidence-based treatment models for children and families. Bill is continuing training as a certified Somatic Experiencing (SE) practitioner, participates in men’s group work, co-hosts a psychotherapy podcast, serves as a clinician at an outpatient mental health clinic, and supervises and trains psychotherapists. Bill holds a Master's Degree in Social Work from Fordham University.
