Insight Oriented Therapy (IOT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Anxiety
Hello. I work with individuals and couples managing life transitions/phases of life, the impact of codependency/narcissism on relationships, aging, gender, anxiety/stress, and other deeply personal issues. With insight-oriented and psychodynamic talk therapy, I bring CBT and mindfulness modalities into our work to understand, support or perhaps change thoughts and behaviors carried throughout life. Rest assured, I respect each person’s experience and perspective as unique, valid and hold no judgements.
Understanding and Changing Patterns and Decision-Making with Insight and Support
Together, we work to gain insight into how the patterns you’ve developed over time impact you in the present. Hopefully, you will get to the point of experiencing the goals of your own design, hence a world of possibilities. Your first step is here, knowing it is ok to reach out for help and support by recognizing that your life/history, mood, and stressors all affect your current feelings and experiences. As we create an honest and safe environment, your voice will be heard and will grow, sharing what needs to be expressed, your authenticity, your vulnerabilities and your strengths, all without judgment.
Attachment and Codependence
Clients frequently seek therapy when feeling unsure and/or anxious about their relationships, and experience changes in those relationships. Unaddressed, these behaviors and emotions can be a major source of difficulty. The degree to which one feels seen, heard, and secure in childhood can directly correlate to the degree of safety and security you experience as an adult. This is mentioned to explain that your history is often intertwined with your current life, attachments, and connections. Together we can walk through it all. To a good degree, we are all interdependent. When codependency arises, it can present as a loss of self in relationships and work, many times leaving you feeling alone, isolated, and seeking clarity and understanding. I can help spot negative patterns and rediscover your sense of self. From there, you can find the clarity and ability to renegotiate your relationships and create new healthy patterns for the life you choose.
Couples therapy
Why does it become so hard to connect with the person closest to us? A relationship under stress due to breakdowns in communication, difficult life circumstances, finances, sexual dysfunctions, loss of intimacy, infidelity, the impacts of narcissism and codependence or other challenges, can bring us to talking or perhaps breaking points. My work with couples of all genders, confronting these and other issues, focuses on bringing fresh insight and an opening of hope and opportunity for active repair and renewal.
